The 9th REACH enforcement project (REF-9) has started, and as announced, it focuses on provisions related to authorisation to strengthen worker and environmental protection.
In practice, inspectors will check that the substances of very high concern (SVHC) which are subject to authorisation, are not placed on the market without a valid authorisation and, where authorised, whether they are used in compliance with the conditions set in the authorisation decision.
Substances that are concerned are those listed on the annex XIV of REACH and for which the sunset date has passed.
The inspections will be carried out in collaboration with national customs and authorities responsible for occupational safety and health legislation (OSH) and for environmental protection.
Project activities will continue during the year 2021, and a report on the findings will be published towards the end of 2022.
